The Max Patch Retreat on Rich Mountain. All the comforts of home in a remote setting on the western ramparts of the Great Smoky Mountains. A few hundred feet from Max Patch Road (NC 1182), a four-season, well-maintained gravel drive runs directly to the steps. Bring the Cadillac, the SUV, the family wagon, ride in on a bike or horse, or walk in--it's about 400 yards to the Appalachian Trail.
The 800-square foot deck wraps around three sides bringing you into the outdoors in comfort, complete with a picnic table for 8, gas grill, plenty of outdoor furniture, and a 5-person hot tub.

Comfortable furniture, a small stereo, and a 25-inch color TV, VCRand DVD player make the living room at the retreat a nice place to pass time when you're not outside. Each room in the house is equipped with its own individual thermostatically controlled electric heat, too.
Completely furnished, the modern kitchen has everything you need--dishes, silver, dishwasher, microwave, a 30-inch electric range and 19-cubic foot refrigerator, coffee and espresso makers, Farberware grill, plus all the pots and pans and utensils--to cook or not to cook!

The Green Room, furnished in art deco family heirlooms with a Sealy pillow-top mattress. All pillows and linens are furnished. The south-facing window overlooks the deck and hot tub. There's an individual thermostat too.

The Blue Room upstairs, looking northwest into Tennessee and the French Broad River Valley. The mission-style queen-size bed is outfitted with a Sealy Posturepedic mattress. All pillows, linens, and covers are furnished, and there's an individual thermostat.The walk-in closet is like another room.
